Obituary for NANCY BARBARA LALANDE (Lee)
Nancy Barbara (Lee) LaLande, 84, of Carrie Rd., Negaunee Township, passed away peacefully Monday morning, November 2, 2020 at home with her loving family by her side and under the care of Lake Superior Hospice.
Nancy was born March 26, 1936 in Ishpeming to Roy and Ruth (Anderson) Lee, and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1954. She married the late Adolph ‘Larry’ LaLande on June 5, 1956 and together they raised their four children. Nancy worked as a secretary for Marquette Public Schools for many years, with over 20 of those years at Marquette Senior High School.
Mrs. LaLande attended Bethany Lutheran Church, Negaunee, and was also a member of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling, family camping trips, pheasant hunting in South Dakota, dancing, and an occasional trip to the casino. Following retirement, Nancy and her husband became full time RVers travelling the country. They enjoyed time at Bluffton, SC near Hilton Head Island where they sold pumpkins in the fall and Christmas trees in the winter. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family and friends.
Surviving are two daughters: Becky Veale of Negaunee Township and Kelli (Mike Gregorich) LaLande of Marquette; her son, Michael LaLande of Mt. Pleasant; nine grandchildren: Lindsey (Tony Touchinski) and Ashley Veale, Dessa LaLande, Blayze and Karrigen Courtney, Alyie Kowalczyk, Heather Brigman, Alexis (Jon Kump) Black and Haley (Preston Hutchens) LaLande; and six great-grandchildren: Katelynn, Lexi, Aidan, Noah, Remmy and Raxton.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Adolph ‘Larry’ LaLande, Jr. in 2014; her daughter, Cathy Greenleaf in 2017; two grandchildren, Dalton and Levi Greenleaf; a sister, Betty Argall; and her brother, Roy Lee.
In accordance with COVID-19 precautions, private family services will be held.
