Obituary for JOYCE A. GUIZZETTI (Treloar)
Joyce A. Guizzetti, 88, of Co. Rd. FX, Humboldt Township and longtime National Mine resident, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, October 4, 2020 under the loving care of her family and UP Home Health & Hospice.
Joyce was born August 2, 1932 in Ishpeming to John and Gertrude (Connibear) Treloar, graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1950 and was a lifelong area resident. In her younger years, she worked as a secretary for LS&I, and later as a secretary for NICE Community Schools at both National Mine and Westwood High School.
Mrs. Guizzetti was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Ishpeming and was a former member of the Negaunee Eagles.
In her spare time, she enjoyed working crossword puzzles, BINGO, knitting and quilting, playing cards and taking an occasional trip to the casino. In her younger years, Joyce enjoyed taking motorcycle rides with her husband.
Surviving are her three daughters: Susan (John) Hamel of Humboldt Twp., Mary Jo (Jack) Laakso of Gillette, WY and Diane Guizzetti of LaPorte, IN; a son, Paul (Sandra) Guizzetti of Tucson, AZ; 11 grandchildren: David (Justina) Helsten, Shawn (Tina) Helsten, Brian Helsten, Brenda Virnig, Amy (Carl) Ruetz, Steven (Angie) Laakso, Eric (Cynthia) Laakso, Anna (Joel) Wilson, Monica (Larry Richmann) Hampton, Travis (Shaly) Guizzetti and Jared Guizzetti; 21 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Severino ‘Sonny’ Guizzetti in 2013; a sister, Elaine (Joe) Poirier; and a brother-in-law, Francis Guizzetti.
In accordance with COVID-19 precautions, private funeral services will be held with Rev. Matt Osborne officiating, but family and friends are invited for a brief committal service at 12:00 noon on Thursday, October 8th at the Negaunee Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Joyce’s memory to the Marquette County Medical Care Facility Activity Fund, 200 Saginaw St., Ishpeming, MI 49849.
