Obituary for ROBERT LENARD "Beano" LAFAVE Jr.
Robert L. ‘Beano’ LaFave, Jr., 73, of Kirkpatrick Ave., Palmer, passed away Wednesday night, September 2, 2020 at UP Health System Marquette with his loving family at his side.
Beano was born August 12, 1947 in Munising to Robert and Leona (Krouth) LaFave, Sr. and graduated from Negaunee Public Schools. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1964 unitl 1967. Following his service to his country, he married Christine M. Helander on April 6, 1968. Beano worked for UPPCO and WE Energies until his retirement. Following retirement, he worked for Holly Forest Products.
In his spare time, he was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and wood cutting, was a loyal NASCAR fan, and in his younger years raced Hobby Stock Cars. Above all, Beano loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.
Surviving are his loving wife of 52 years, Christine LaFave; his two daughters, Tanya (Rich) Korpi of Negaunee Township and Christy LaFave of Saginaw, Texas; four grandchildren: Jacob and Alexa Korpi, Zach Arbelius and Ethan LaFave; two brothers, Dale LaFave and Jack (Chris) LaFave; three sisters: Jeannie Bridegroom, Roberta (Lowell) Cardew and Leona (Jim) Connors; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Honoring Beano’s wishes, no public services will be held.
