Obituary for DIANE LYNN CASSIDY (Kevern)

Diane Lynn Cassidy, 70, of Carriage Lane, Harvey, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, August 23, 2020 at the Trillium House in Marquette in the care of her loving family and UP Home Health and Hospice.

Diane was born April 13, 1950 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Marquette to Gordon ‘Corky’ and Elizabeth (Savolainen) Kevern and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1968. She earned her LPN degree from the NMU School of Practical Nursing in 1969 and then lived in Alpena, MI for two years before moving to her home built in Harvey. Diane had two sons with her previous husband, Bill Tresedder. She married Dennis Cassidy in 1982.

A compassionate caregiver to all, Diane worked at Morgan Heights, Marquette General Hospital, for Dr. Mudge and Dr. Tabor throughout her employment career. She loved to cook, bake, enjoyed photography, loved to travel and spent many winters in Lake Havasu City, AZ after she and her husband Dennis retired. Diane loved the holidays and made every one special, especially for her grandchildren. A die-hard Elvis fan, she made a trip to Graceland, and Elvis will be singing ‘Amazing Grace’ at her service. She loved music and listened to it all day. Along with the music she loved to dance. She and her husband loved road trips and exploring, always with the camera in hand. Diane believed in ‘stopping to smell the roses’ and then photographing them. Many photo books and a few cook books compiled over the years. She enjoyed going to camp where she always felt the essence of her Dad. Most of all, Diane loved time spent with her family and friends. Her boys were the sunshine of her life and her girls were the rainbows. Her physical pain never clouded the deep affection for her family. Times weren’t always easy, but their love gave her more than she could ever ask for.

Surviving are her husband, Dennis Cassidy; sons: Bradley (Gina) Tresedder of Wausau, WI and Donald (Jackie Retaski) Tresedder of Gwinn; step-son, Sean (Meghan) Cassidy of White Lake, MI; grandchildren: Tarryn (Maxwell) Holm of California and Sydney Cassidy of White Lake; her sister, Kathy (Ernie) Grasso of Negaunee; nephew, Dean (Karena) Grasso; niece, Dana (Jason) Rivord; great-nephews, Joe Grasso and Kole and Alex Rivord; and great-niece, Mandi (Kenny) Kinnunen. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 28th at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven Solberg officiating. Visitation will take place from 11:00 am until the time of services at 1:00 pm at the church on Friday. Masks are required inside the church. Interment will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in her memory to UPAWS.
