Obituary for RUTH EDITH CHAMBERLAIN (Peterson)
Ruth Edith Chamberlain, 93, of Negaunee, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, April 4, 2020 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility.
Ruth was born December 25, 1926 in Negaunee to Frank and Alina (Honkavaara) Peterson and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1944. She was married to the late Jarl Kivela and together they raised their two children.
In 1984, Ruth married the late George Chamberlain of Hancock and they made their home there for over 30 years. Following George’s passing in 2011, she returned home to Negaunee.
Mrs. Chamberlain was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Negaunee and was a 4-H leader for several years. She enjoyed several crafts such as sewing, weaving rugs and embroidery, baking, gardening, and enjoyed traveling.
Surviving are her son, Glen (Sandra) Kivela of Ishpeming; a daughter, Anne (Michael) Rzanca of Munising; two granddaughters, Carol (Daniel) Palluconi and Amanda Kivela; two great-grandchildren, Carson Zorza and Kayla Chiamulera; a great-great grandson, Sebastian Chiamulera; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, June Jarvi and Cheryl Hemmila; and her favorite niece, Karen Gamelin.
She was preceded in death by parents; both husbands; two brothers; and six sisters.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
