Obituary for ALBERT L. "Butch" HILL

Albert ‘Butch’ Hill, 74, of Baldwin Ave, Negaunee, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, February 28, 2020 at his home under the loving care of his family and UP Home Health & Hospice.

Butch was born May 21, 1945 in Marquette to Leonard and Helen (Hemmila) Hill, graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1963 and was a lifelong area resident. He worked as a foreman for the Marquette County Road Commission, retiring with over 30 years of service.

Mr. Hill was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Negaunee. In his spare time, he was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping and anything else that could be done outside. Above all, Butch cherished his time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are his loving wife of 52 years, Dorothy (Klein) Hill; a son, Ken (Lisa) Niemisto of Negaunee Township; two daughters, Tanya Hill of Green Bay and Wendy (Dave) Skewis of Negaunee; 12 grandchildren: DJ (Yvonne) Skewis, Jake (Annie) Skewis, Cara (Dan) Tuominen, Riley Skewis, Brady Skewis, Kelsey (Cody) Reyes, Lindsay Niemisto, Macy Niemisto, and Hailey, Seija, Ryne and Mila Juidici; 9 great-grandchildren; a brother, Danny (Heidi) Hill of Ishpeming; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sharon Gignac and her children, Lisa, Bill & Leslie; and a great-granddaughter, Mia Rose Skewis.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 7th at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Negaunee, with Rev. Steven Solberg officiating. Interment will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00 am until the start of services at 11:00 am at the church on Saturday, and also at a luncheon immediately following services in the church fellowship hall.
