Obituary for A. JOYCE NEELY
A. Joyce (Wangberg) Neely, 91, longtime Negaunee resident and most recently of Madison, WI passed away peacefully in the care of her loving family on Thursday afternoon, January 16, 2020 at St. Mary’s Care Center in Madison.
Joyce was born February 26, 1928 in Negaunee to Fritz and Leona (Waters) Wangberg and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1946. She was married to the late Ray Neely for 64 years and together they raised two children.
Early in her life, Joyce was employed as a switchboard operator for Michigan Bell Telephone Company. She was a life-time and active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Negaunee.
Joyce enjoyed volunteering at the Negaunee Senior Center and visiting friends and relatives in nursing homes. After Ray’s retirement, they spent many winters in Arizona and enjoyed the friendships of other snow birds.
Surviving are her son, Dennis (Mary Kay) Neely of Henderson, NV; her daughter, Jill (Jim) Bidlingmaier of Madison; two grandchildren, Kelly and Ross Bidlingmaier; her great-granddaughter, Ida; and niece Peggy Carlyon, and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Raymond in 2012; and two brothers and their wives: Keith (Eleanor) and William ‘Bill’ (Ruth) Wangberg.
Graveside services will be held in the Spring at the Negaunee Cemetery.
