Obituary for NANCY JOHANNA RING
Nancy Johanna Ring, 73, of Midway Location, Richmond Township, passed away Wednesday morning, November 6, 2019 at UP Health System in Marquette.
Nancy was born October 16, 1946 in Ishpeming to Casper and Jennie (Rantala) Ruokola and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1964. She then earned her LPN degree from Northern Michigan University. Nancy was united in marriage to Mark Ring on June 5, 1965 and together they raised three boys.
Aside from being a loving and devoted homemaker, Nancy was employed as a nurse in Green Bay, Newberry and Bell Hospital. She also worked as a teacher’s aide for many years for Negaunee Public Schools from where she retired.
Mrs. Ring was an active and devout member of Community Lutheran Church. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, taking saunas and swimming in her pool. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed knitting goods for her family and those in need. More than anything, Nancy loved being with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.
Surviving are her loving husband of 54 years, Mark Ring; three sons: Robert of Negaunee, Mark (Lori) of Gwinn and Timothy (Daphine) Ring of Negaunee Township; eight grandchildren: Rachel, Allison, Angela, Taylor, Shane, Michael, Parker and Autumn; her sister, Irene Kindstrand and her brother, Donald (Kathy) Ruokolainen, both of Green Creek Location – Ishpeming; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Peter Ruokola; and two sisters, Ingrid Varner and Karen Ruokola.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, November 11th at Community Lutheran Church, Suomi Location, with Rev. Douglas Norquist officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am until the time of services at 12:00 noon at the church on Monday. Nancy’s sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Mrs. Ring’s memory to Community Lutheran Church.
