Donna Jean Liquia, 83, of Co. Rd. MK, passed away peacefully Tuesday night, September 3, 2019 at her home in the loving care of her family and Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice.

Donna was born January 31, 1936 in Champion to Clarence and Ruth (Curry) Belanger. She graduated from Negaunee High School in 1972, when she went back to night school to earn her diploma. Donna married Roland Liquia on September 18, 1952 and together they resided in the Palmer and Suomi areas.

Mrs. Liquia was a devoted member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Palmer. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting mittens and sewing hats, flower gardening, playing BINGO, and baking wedding cakes for family and friends.

Surviving are her loving husband, Roland Liquia; two sons, Jerry Liquia of Traverse City and Steve (Robin) Liquia of Gwinn; a daughter, Ruth (Valdomero) Suarez of Suomi Location; 7 grandchildren: Tim (Amie) Liquia, Phillip (Amye) Liquia, Zackary (Laura) Suarez, Emily (Pedro) Velazquez, Joel (Christine) Schaub, Kacey LaLonde and Leo Field II; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Belanger of Ishpeming; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 infant children; a grandson, Shawn Liquia; daughter-in-law, Angela Liquia; a brother, James Belanger; and a sister, Genevieve Nelson.

Memorial services will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, September 10th at Koskey Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry Van Damme officiating. Interment will be in Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am until the time of services at 11:30 am at the funeral home on Tuesday, and also at a luncheon immediately following services at the Richmond Township Fire Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Donna’s memory to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Palmer.

My deepest condolences to the family. Ruth & I were inseparable during the early 80’s, Donna always welcomed me into their home! The pool was always a favorite place to be! She will always be remembered for her kindness. Chris Jordan
