Laura Lina Dozzi, 91, of Princeton, entered eternal life Monday morning, August 5, 2019 at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan.

Laura was born February 14, 1928 in Aviano, Friuli Province, Italy to Ruggero and Alma (Toffolo) Capovilla. She married the late Felix Dozzi in Italy in 1947 and they moved to Princeton, Michigan where Laura lived the remainder of her life.

Mrs. Dozzi was a devout member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Gwinn for over 70 years. She was also a member of the Gwinn VFW Auxiliary and RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) in Marquette County. She was a talented crafter, often knitting, sewing and crocheting goods to donate to those in need. Laura was a selfless and generous volunteer and a proud recipient of a 2016 Volunteerism award signed by President Obama.

Laura loved gardening, cooking, canning, hunting and fishing, and of course, making wine. Her meals were extraordinary and you couldn’t leave her home without a taste, a glass of homemade wine and fresh vegetables in hand from her garden. She was a loving homemaker and her family was most important to her.

Surviving are her son, Sam Dozzi of Gwinn; daughter, Mary (Dan) Finkelstein of Troy; two grandsons: Felix (Beth) and Robert Dozzi; two sisters: Lena Capovilla Biglia and Angela Andrezzi, both of Italy; brother, Franco DaRos of Brazil; and nieces and nephew: Nives Biglia, Barbara Andrezzi and Bruno DaRos. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Felix in 1983; and her son Ruggero in 2016.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Thursday, August 8th at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Allen Mott officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends in the Baraga Room at St. Anthony’s from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 12:00 noon on Thursday, and also at a luncheon in the church hall immediately following Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Laura’s memory to RSVP of Marquette County or Lake Superior Hospice.

Sam and Mary,
I wish I could be there with you on Thursday. Your mom was a beautiful soul and the world is a little less bright during these sad days. But smiles will follow as my family and I fondly remember her sense of humor, her humility, her kindness, and her generosity.
