Scott Evald Arbelius, 59, of Co. Rd. 510, Negaunee Township, passed away in his sleep early Thursday morning, August 1, 2019 at the family camp on Little Shag Lake.

Scott was born April 29, 1960 in Ishpeming to Leo E. and Alice L. (Peterson) Arbelius, graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1978, and was a lifelong Negaunee resident. Following graduation, he attended NMU where he earned a degree in criminal justice but decided to pursue a career in construction.

Scott worked as a talented carpenter and contractor for more than 40 years, owning and operating Scott’s Home Repair for many of them. He loved his job and took great pride in his work, always saying he was ‘just a Finlander improving neighborhoods one home at a time.’ Aside from working, he loved spending time with family and friends at the family camp, enjoyed riding his Harley, traveling, and listening to music and dancing.

Surviving are two step-sons: Daniel Gravelyn of Negaunee Township, Josh (Ella) Gravelyn of Harvey and their children, Carter and Madison; four sisters: Judy Wiig of Negaunee, Sandy (Steve) Sarasin of Marquette, and Kathy and Dawn ‘Beku’ (Tom) Arbelius, both of Palmer; and nieces and nephews: Benjamin Wolfe; Steve, Brian and Kevin Wiig, Kristen (Joe) Dammann; Jason and Chris Sarasin, and Jenny (Kyle) Rundman. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kristina (Knight) Arbelius in 2014; and his beloved dog of 19 years, Bailey.

Memorial services will be held at a later date and will be announced by the Koskey Funeral Home.
