Obituary for STEVEN ALAN "Whitey" BEAUCHAINE Sr.

Steven Alan ‘Whitey’ Beauchaine, Sr., 72, of Ann Street, Negaunee, died at his home early Thursday morning, March 28, 2019 in the care of his loving family and UP Home Health and Hospice.

Whitey was born January 24, 1947 in Ishpeming to Alfred and Lempi (Alongo) Beauchaine, graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1965 and was a lifelong area resident. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Vietnam War from 1965-69. Following his service to his country, Whitey worked for CCI for over 31 years, retiring in 2003 from the Empire Mine as a Pump Repairman. His personality and love of a good argument made him an excellent Grievance Steward for the Union.

Steve was a lifetime member of V.A. Romo Post #3165, Negaunee VFW. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing cribbage and pitching horseshoes in the local leagues, birdwatching, Sunday coffee, and an occasional trip to the casino. Whitey was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan, and never missed an episode of ‘Survivor.’ More than anything, Whitey took care of those closest to him. He took great pride in caring for his loved ones, especially his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Surviving are his son, Steven Beauchaine, Jr. of Rhinelander, WI; daughter, Kim (Gordy) LaMere of Skandia; grandchildren: Bryce, Brooke, Kelsey, Beau and Molly; his brother, Tom (Shirley) Beauchaine of Perch Lake; four sisters: Geraldine (Bud) Bair of Napa, CA; Patricia LaFreniere of Negaunee; Kay Beauchaine of Norway and Susan (Ron) Erickson of Diorite; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and special family who helped care for him: Stacie Beauchaine, Nichole (Ruben) Asgaard, Tammie Leece; Duane Beauchaine, Jr, granddaughter, Molly and grandson, Beau.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 39 years, Sharon (McEachern) Beauchaine, in 2009; an infant daughter, Michelle; two brothers, Duane (Trina) Beauchaine, Sr. and Bruce ‘Bruno’ Beauchaine; two sisters: Nancy Besola and Marsha McClary; and a brother-in-law, Rudolph ‘Rudy’ LaFreniere.

Honoring Steven’s wishes, no public services will be held. Interment will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery.
