Obituary for MILTON CHARLES HAKKARAINEN Jr.

Milton Charles Hakkarainen, Jr., 66, of Cherry Creek Rd., Harvey, passed away Friday March 8, 2019 at his home.

Milton was born April 20, 1952 in Ishpeming to Milton and Margie (Pascoe) Hakkarainen, Sr. and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1970. He went on to get his Associate’s Degree and worked as a lab technician at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. He later worked several jobs locally including time in the flooring mill and as a janitor.

Mr. Hakkarainen followed the writings of the Bible and was a believer in the Christian faith. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, listening to music, playing cribbage, and loved showing people card tricks.

Surviving are his son, Daniel Hakkarainen of Negaunee; two daughters, Mandy (Curt) Deason of Oklahoma City, OK and Carrie (Mark) Gillispie of Cape Coral, FL; seven grandchildren: Madison and Braylon Hakkarainen, Ella and Maya Deason and Adam, Austin and Ashley Gillispie; a brother, Gary (Claudia) Hakkarinen of Ishpeming; a sister, Bonnie Emanuelson of Ishpeming; his best friend, Gordon Stack; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who affectionately called him ‘Uncle Hoodie.’ He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Jean Diamond.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, July 9th at the Negaunee Cemetery.
