Obituary for MARILYN IRENE HEMMILA (Trewhella)

PALMER — Just as she lived her life, it was gently and peacefully Marilyn Irene Hemmila, 89, of Kirkpatrick Ave., Palmer, joined the angels Thursday night, March 7, 2019 at the Eastwood Nursing Center with her loving family at her side.

Marilyn was born September 16, 1929 in Richmond Township to Thomas and Irene (Luoma) Trewhella, attended Negaunee Schools and was a lifelong area resident. She was a loving and devoted homemaker to her family.

Mrs. Hemmila was a member of Mitchell United Methodist Church, Negaunee. In her spare time, she enjoyed music and dancing, and a good laugh but most especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved sharing sweets with each of them. Her beautiful blue eyes sparkled when the kids were around.

Surviving are her son, Keith Hemmila of Palmer; three daughters: Janice (Peter) Krook of National Mine, Kathleen (David) Helander of Palmer and Connie (Daniel) Juidici of Palmer; 10 grandchildren: Karl Hemmila, Debbie LaCosse, Scott (Annette) Hyttinen, Terry (Nicole) Hyttinen, Thomas Hyttinen, Brianne (Joey) Ziegner, Kathy Mae Hewitt, and Mara, Keith and Maggie Juidici; 11 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Susie Hemmila of Palmer; sisters-in-law, Betty and Shirley Hemmila; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Albert Hemmila, in 2010; her son, Dennis Hemmila; a granddaughter, Cami Hyttinen; and a brother, Melvin Trewhella.

Honoring Marilyn’s wishes, graveside services will be held at a later date at the Negaunee Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of Eastwood Nursing Center who took such compassionate, wonderful care of their beloved mother and grandmother. Each and every one at Eastwood was kind and loving. We cannot thank them enough.
