Obituary for ADELE DOROTHY GOUPILLE (Andary)

Adele Dorothy (Andary) Goupille, 92, of Midway Drive, Negaunee Township, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, December 28, 2018 at the Trillium House in Marquette in the care of her loving family and UP Home Health and Hospice.

Adele was born October 13, 1926 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to Elias J. ‘Ely’ and Marina Andary and graduated from Loretto High School, Class of 1942. Following graduation, she worked as an executive secretary for the Civil Service which brought her all over the world, including Egypt, Lebanon, and various places in Europe. In 1959, she joined her husband in owning and operating Rudy Goupille & Sons, which she did until her passing.

Mrs. Goupille was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee. In her spare time, she enjoyed meeting with her friends at the Beef-A-Roo following Mass, was an avid Detroit Tigers, Green Bay Packers and Detroit Red Wings fan. She fondly remembers her mom hosting the Red Wings for dinner at their home in the Soo during training camp. Her favorite pastime though, was following her sons and grandchildren’s sporting careers. She was affectionately known as the ‘Godmother’ in many local body shops.

Surviving are her three sons: Art and Rudy (Colleen) Goupille, both of Negaunee Township, and Richard (Andy) Goupille of Temperance, Michigan; her sister, Sadie (Frank) Atkinson of Sault Ste. Marie; six grandchildren: Hailey, Ely (Katelyn Omberllo), Rudy (Courtney Finnila), Airman 1st Class Dustin (Tessa Jazdzyk), Graham (Madeline Schmidt) and Drew Goupille; special friends and caregivers: Sharon Schilling, Pauline Argall and Jeannie McGahey; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rudolph A. Goupille in 1987; two brothers: Tony and Paul Andary; and three sisters: Genevieve Schwartz, Mary Wood and Martha Shawhan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 2nd at St. Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Larry Van Damme officiating. Burial will be in Northland Chapel Gardens. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 12:00 noon. A luncheon will follow in the St. Paul Gymnasium. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard, Mike and Jim Wood, Paul, Ely, Mike and Tony Andary, Tim Atkinson and Joe Shawhan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Paul Catholic Church or the Trillium House, Marquette.

The family would like to thank Rev. Larry Van Damme for the numerous visits and prayers shared with Adele.
