Obituary for SHIRLEY MAE JUCHEMICH

Shirley M. Juchemich, 91, of Negaunee, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, December 13, 2018 at the Eastwood Nursing Center.

Shirley was born May 28, 1927 in Palmer, to Leo and Anna (Marttila) Nelson, graduated from Negaunee Schools and was a lifelong area resident. Shirley and her husband ‘Rolly’ owned and operated Rolly’s Place in Negaunee for 24 years, retiring in 1998.

Mrs. Juchemich was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee and also attended Mitchell United Methodist Church, Negaunee.

Surviving are her daughter, Donna (David) Danielson of Negaunee; son-in-law, Nino Green of Escanaba; grandchildren: Anne Marie (Chris) Benton of Berwyn, IL and Sara (Jon) Beckman of Ishpeming; step-grandchildren: Joseph Green, Leah (Kevin) Belanger and Naomi Green; great-grandchildren: Nathan, Zachary and Andrew Beckman and Luke Benton; step great-grandchildren: Aaron and Jacob Stewart and Alex Green; sister, Sandra Larson; brother-in-law, Charles Giotto; and nieces and nephews: Kathy (Dennis) Kratz, Robert Larson, Charles (Nora) Giotto and Tony (Jill) Giotto. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roland ‘Rolly’ on January 11, 2009; a daughter, Marsha Green on April 16, 2013; infant brother, Louis; brother, Clyde (Jean) Nelson; sister-in-law, Priscilla Giotto; and brother-in-law, Donald (Timmie) Juchemich.

Per Shirley’s wishes, memorial services will be held at 4:30 pm on Wednesday, December 19th at Mitchell United Methodist Church, Negaunee, with Rev. J. Albert Barchue officiating. Interment will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday and also at a dinner immediately following services in the church fellowship hall.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Wayne Carlson for his care and friendship provided, as well as the staff at the Eastwood Nursing Center for filling her past three years with joy and a purpose.
