Obituary for LEONARD GEORGE ROGERS Sr.

Leonard George ‘Lenny’ Rogers, Sr., 78, longtime Negaunee resident, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, September 8, 2018 at the Eastwood Nursing Center.

Leonard was born June 19, 1940 in Ishpeming to Gordon ‘Bud’ and Rosslyn (Tamblin) Rogers, attended Negaunee schools and was a lifelong area resident. Lenny served in the United States Air Force from 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1958. Following his service to his country, he worked as a sewing machine specialist at the HW Gossard Co., and numerous other jobs over his working career.

He was a previous member and Commander at the AMVETS, Post #122 in Ishpeming, and a former member of the Negaunee Eagles and the American Legion in Monticello, Kentucky. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors including hunting, fishing and camping.

Surviving are his loving wife of 44 years, Patricia D. (Treloar) Rogers of Negaunee; son, Leonard Rogers, Jr. of Ishpeming; five daughters: Roxanne Rogers of Sheboygan, WI, Lauri Rogers of Beaver Dam, WI, Tammy Rogers of Constantine, MI, Kelly (Tom) Hodge of Constantine, MI and Agel (Odell) Grant of Springfield, TN; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sandra Rogers of Port Richey, FL and Marlene (Gary) Anderson of Palmer; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gordon Rogers; and a grandson, Sean Rogers.

Honoring Leonard’s wishes, no public services will be held.
