Obituary for LESTER JAMES JUCHEMICH

LESTER JAMES  JUCHEMICH
Lester James Juchemich, 89, of Valley Road, Negaunee Township, entered eternal life on Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility.

Lester was born August 19, 1928 in Negaunee to Lester F. and Phyllis E. (Southey) Juchemich, attended Negaunee St. Paul Catholic School, and later earned his GED from Negaunee High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served from 1946-48.

Following his service to his country, Lester was employed by CCI. He began underground at the Mather ‘B’ and eventually retired as a shovel operator from the Tilden Mine, having worked 40 years with the company.

Mr. Juchemich was a devout and active member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee. In his free time he enjoyed woodworking, gardening and fishing. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his family and grandchildren.

Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Lois (Jalonen) Juchemich; five daughters: Teresa (Alan) Mager, Janice Juchemich and Sheri (Michael) Ennett, all of Negaunee, Phyllis Wendt of Palmer and Julie Peterson of Wisconsin; son, David Juchemich of Wisconsin; several grandchildren including Andrew Juchemich, Leslie (Tyler) Loomis, Thomas Mager, Jessie Mager, Ashley Juchemich, and Jacob and Allie Ennett; his brother, Robert Juchemich of Ishpeming; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Steven Juchemich in 1986; and his brother, Larry Juchemich.

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, July 3rd at the Koskey Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Van Damme, pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church, officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10 am until the time of services at 12 noon at the funeral home on Tuesday. A luncheon will be held immediately following services in the St. Paul School Gymnasium. Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens.
