Obituary for WILLIAM RICHARD MILJOUR

WILLIAM RICHARD MILJOUR
William Richard ‘Bill’ Miljour, 63, of Sandy Dr., Negaunee, passed away Monday morning, June 11, 2018 at UP Health System Marquette after suffering an apparent heart attack.

Bill was born November 4, 1954 in Marquette to Robert J. and Josephine J. (Merrill) Miljour, grew up in Suomi Location and graduated from Negaunee High School. He married Janine Bourgeois on July 9, 1976 and together they raised two daughters. Bill worked for CCI for 11 years, Miller-Bradford for 17 years and eventually retired from Marquette General Hospital.

Bill was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed the yearly Wyoming hunting trip where he was known for his great deer spotting eyes. He was a member of the Homestead Hunting Camp in Charlie Lakes where they solved world problems during the weekly camp hopping. Bill played at many area wedding receptions in the local band, ‘Night Shift.’ Friday date night and big beers at the 41 Steakhouse (now Jerzi’s) was always looked forward to. Bill was witty, had a great sense of humor and a gentle soul, and will be dearly missed. He was proud to be an organ donor for the Gift of Life.

Surviving are his loving wife of 42 years, Janine M. Miljour; two daughters, Megan Miljour and Emily (Jason) Stanaway, both of Negaunee; his beloved granddaughter, Josie Smith, whom he adored; sister, Norine (Dennis) Lucy of Maryland; brother-in-law, Chet Sermak of Ann Arbor; niece, Nicole Bittman; and nephew, John Lucy. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Bonnie Miljour.

Memorial services will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, June 15th at Community Lutheran Church, Suomi Location with Rev. Steven Solberg officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 2 pm until the time of services at 4 pm at the church on Friday. A dinner reception will follow at the Richmond Township Community Club. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Vincent De Paul.
