Obituary for ANNIE LEHTINEN (Luisa)

Annie (Luisa) Lehtinen, 93, lifelong Negaunee resident, died Monday afternoon, January 29, 2018 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility.

Annie was born September 11, 1924 in Negaunee to Peter and Maria (Barzan) Luisa and graduated from Negaunee St. Paul High School, Class of 1942. She was employed as a seamstress at the H.W. Gossard Company and upon retiring she worked with her sister, Dina Kangas, at the Quality Market downtown Negaunee until 1991.

Mrs. Lehtinen was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Negaunee, the Negaunee VFW Auxiliary and the Paisano Club. Her hobbies included gardening, baking, and traveling the world.
Surviving are two nieces, Debra (Sean) Nuyda of Oak Creek, WI and Laurie Hanson of Milwaukee; two nephews: David and Michael Luisa, both of Milwaukee; two great-nephews: Peter and Paul Nuyda; and a great-niece, Maria Nuyda. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Waino Lehtinen in 1973; her sister, Dina Kangas, in 2004; and her brother, Dominic Luisa, in 2017.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 3rd at St. Paul Catholic Church with Monsignor Peter Oberto officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends for one hour prior to Mass at the church on Saturday.
