Obituary for HAROLD MARTIN TREWHELLA

HAROLD MARTIN  TREWHELLA
Harold Martin Trewhella, 89, of Owaissa St., Negaunee, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, December 28, 2017 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in the care of his loving family.
Harold was born April 8, 1928 in Palmer to Stephen and Hilma (Wakkuri) Trewhella and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1945.
Mr. Trewhella will be remembered for his many accomplishments in mining, the businesses he and his wife operated, the sports he played and his desire to live. But most of all, he will be remembered for his love of family and his kind and generous heart.
Harold is survived by his son, Harold S. (Sharon) Trewhella of Palmer; two daughters, Janice Jo Trewhella of Cary, NC and Tracey (David) Alderman of Ishpeming; three grandchildren: Dr. Jaryl (Kelli) Korpinen, Kimberlee (Stephen) Carr and Harold S. Trewhella, Jr.; five great-grandchildren: Ethan and Sofia Korpinen, Isabel Carr, Maryellen and Meghan Trewhella; his brother, Richard (Karen) Trewhella of Lexington, SC; his sister, Joyce Herman of Marquette; two sons-in-law, Gunnar Korpinen and Dominic ‘Duke’ Jacobetti; a sister-in-law, Kitty Trewhella and extra special niece, Mary Alice Trewhella; and many other nieces and nephews and their families whom he dearly loved. Also surviving are two dear friends, Linda Stanaway and Dennis Powers. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years, Bernice J. (Cox) Trewhella, in 2007; his daughter, Karen Jacobetti, in 2005; two brothers, Stephen and Raymond (Julie) Trewhella; and two brothers-in-law, Lloyd Cox and Robert Herman.
Honoring Harold’s wishes, private graveside services will be held in the spring. The family kindly asks that any memorial considerations be directed to the Negaunee Senior Citizen Center in Harold’s memory.
