Sandra Kay (Swanson) Murray, 68, of Montecito, CA and former Negaunee resident, entered eternal life early Friday morning, November 3, 2017 at the Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas in the care of her loving family.
Sandra was born November 9, 1948 in Ishpeming to Robert ‘Rip’ and Evelyn (Agnoli) Swanson and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1966.
Sandra was an equestrian, having owned with her husband a horse ranch in Las Vegas and bred and showed Arabian horses as an amateur at the annual US Arabian Nationals in Louisville, KY and Albuquerque, NM, as well as various regional and local Arabian horse shows in California and Nevada. She also loved to design and decorate the various homes she and her husband owned over the years in California, Nevada, New Mexico and Marquette.
Surviving are her loving husband, Marvin Murray; her daughter and son from her previous marriage to Bradley Richards of Negaunee, Tracy Richards of Henderson, NV and Christopher (Kari) Richards of Henderson, NV; beloved grandsons, Jack and Ben Richards; two sisters, Barbara (Alan) Thorne of Los Banos, CA and Joanne Hill of Negaunee; her uncle, George (Lillian) Swanson of Ishpeming and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, November 10th at Bethany Lutheran Church in Negaunee with Rev. Rell Spickerman officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am until the time of services at 12:00 noon at the church on Friday, and also at a luncheon in the church hall following services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Sandra’s memory to a charity of your preference.
