Carl Joseph Lehto, age 63, loving father, son and brother, of Negaunee Township, passed away peacefully in the care of his loving family Sunday afternoon, October 22, 2017 at UP Health System Marquette following a lengthy illness.
Carl was born October 16, 1954 in Marquette to William A. and Helen M. (Alto) Lehto and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1973. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving four years aboard the USS St. Louis and USS Turner Joy. He was honorably discharged in 1977.
Carl was employed as a truck driver for Reinhart Foodservice, retiring in 2014 with 32 years of service with the company. In his free time, he enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting and spending time at camp on Charlie Lakes. He loved animals, enjoyed playing softball in the Negaunee League and playing cribbage, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
Surviving are three brothers: William J., Alfred and Richard, all of Negaunee; two sisters: June Prusi of Republic and Carol (Rory) Rankinen of Negaunee Township; special cousin and caretaker, Lori Perttula and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Carly Lehto in 2010.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 30th at Koskey Funeral Home with Rev. Leon Jarvis officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 12:00 noon until the time of services at 2:00 pm at the funeral home on Monday.
