Obituary for ELEANOR MARIE PIPER (Chevalier)

Eleanor Marie ‘Ellie’ Piper, 90, of 98 Croix St., Negaunee, passed away peacefully at home in the care of her loving family and UP Home Health and Hospice early Friday morning, May 19, 2017.
Ellie was born April 13, 1927 in L’Anse to Alvin and Irene (Ross) Chevalier, attended L’Anse schools and was an area resident for the past 25 yrs. She worked secretarial jobs throughout her career, most recently as a transcriptionist for the Michigan State Police, retiring at the age of 84.
In her spare time she enjoyed knitting and cross-stitching, playing cribbage and scrabble, and also taking an occasional trip to the casino. Ellie was very artistic who loved to paint with water colors and oils.
Surviving are her sons, Clyde Kent of California and Kenneth ‘Dave’ (Sue) Kent of Negaunee; daughter, Patricia (Brian) Livengood of Nevada, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Diane Kent of Marquette; 13 grandchildren: Kimberly Kent and Rick, Jarod (Elissa) Kent, Brandon Kent, Theresa (Ray) Bailey, Kristen (Stephen) McNeal, David (Courtney) Hill, Rochelle Bromund and Bryan, Laura (Jake) Henderson, Anthony Kent, Bradley (Amber) Kent, Breanne (Will) Ricklefs and Autumn and Trevor Livengood; 14 great-grandchildren, including newborn great-grandson, Carson; and special friends, Cecelia ‘Cis’ Dompierre and Delores Force. Eleanor was very fond of 3 special little ones in her life; Reed, Sammy and Bria. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert Dean Kent; and an infant sister.
Honoring Ellie’s wishes, private family services will be held at a later date.
