Obituary for CHARLENE ANN PHILIPPI (Philippi)

Charlene Ann Philippi, 56, of Gwinn, passed away peacefully in the care of her loving family Thursday evening, April 20, 2017 at the Norlite Nursing Center.
Charlene was born October 28, 1960 in Ishpeming to John Batista and Donna Fay (Leveillie) Philippi, graduated from Gwinn High School, Class of 1979 and then attended beautician school at Northern Michigan University. She was employed as a beautician for several years and also co-owned and operated The Gwinn Inn and Pizza Machine.
Charlene enjoyed canoeing down the Escanaba River, playing darts, shooting pool, pitching horseshoes and bowling. She loved working crossword puzzles and watching Nascar races. Her big love was her two dogs, Guido and McKenzie.
Surviving are her two sons, Michael (Julie) Philippi of Milwaukee and Duane Philippi of Tennesee; sister, Cindy (Raymond) Foor of Gwinn; niece, Tonia (Mike) Tipolt and their daughter Zoey; nephew, Bryan Frederickson; special companion who she lived with, Bill Hebert of Gwinn; step-mother, Beverly Philippi; step-sisters: Cathy (Dana) Morgan of Battle Creek, Chris (Jay) Norman of Gwinn, Cally (Paul) Hill of Lansing and Connie (Scott) Sather of Gwinn. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-3 pm on Sunday, April 30th at the Koskey Funeral Home in Negaunee. Interment will take place in the Gwinn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Charlene’s memory to UPAWS, 84 Snowfield Rd., Negaunee, MI 49866.
