Elizabeth Mae ‘Bette’ Bond, 89, of Sunset Dr., Negaunee, went to be with the Lord early Monday morning, April 10, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her loving family and under the care UP Home Health & Hospice.
Bette was born January 25, 1928 in Ishpeming to Albert and Loretta (Garceau) LaForest, attended Negaunee St. Paul Catholic School and was a lifelong area resident. She married Wilfred ‘Butch’ Bond on June 7, 1947. Bette was a loving and devoted homemaker to her family.
Mrs. Bond was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee. In her free time she enjoyed baking, cooking, visiting with her special group of friends, and loved following her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events.
Surviving are her daughters: Linda (Jim) Larson and Debbie (Jim) Vilona; four grandchildren: Jamie (Dan) Skewis, Dean (Gwen) Larson, Kimberly (Ryan) Gerndt and Brad (Sarah) LaForest; great-grandchildren: Luke and Jillian Skewis, Brayden and Max Larson, Gavin and Payslee Gerndt, and Parker LaForest; brothers, Ron (Lenore) and Terry (Janet) LaForest; special nieces and nephews: David and Tony (Penny) LaForest, Terry Lynn (Dennis) Novak, Judy Jandron and Marilyn Argall; and several cousins and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Wilfred ‘Butch’ Bond on August 25, 2014; two brothers, Albert and Jack LaForest; and sister-in-law, Margaret LaForest.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 13th at Koskey Funeral Home with Monsignor Peter Oberto officiating. Interment will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:30 am until the time of services at 1:00 pm at the funeral home on Thursday, and also at a luncheon at the St. Paul School gymnasium immediately following services.
