Ronald D. Cardone, 81 of Croix Street, Negaunee, died Sunday, February 7, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.
Ron was born May 28, 1934 in Negaunee to the late Domenic and Hilda (Datson) Cardone, and was a graduate of Negaunee High School, Class of 1952. He attended Northern Michigan University prior to entering the United States Army and serving his country during the Korean War Conflict. Upon his discharge, Ron returned to Negaunee where he resided his entire life. He was employed as an insurance agent, City Clerk of Negaunee, City Manager of Negaunee, and Human Resources Director for the City of Marquette retiring in 1994. Ron served on many committees and boards during his professional career and was a true advocate of public service. He was a member of the Ishpeming Elks Lodge #447 and Wesley United Methodist Church.
Ron's children were his greatest gift. He is survived by three daughters: Lynne (Mark) Sundblad of Ishpeming, Susan (Joe) Argall of Gladstone and Marcia Nieman (Bill Mohar) of Two Harbors, MN; two sons, Michael (Cathy)Cardone of Negaunee and Greg (Sharon) Cardone of Hobart, Wisconsin; nine grandchildren: Rylan and Ramen (Rosalinda) Cardone, Jennifer Sundblad, Matthew and Katie Argall, Raina Yamry, Erin Fallgatter, Gary and Alyssa Nieman; six great grandchildren: Dawson Sundberg, Aidan Cardone, Logan Cardone, Lachlan Yamry, Wyatt Fallgatter, Elena Fallgatter; two sisters, Gloria Thompson and Lillian Cardone; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Geraldine Chard.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Saturday, February 13th at the Koskey Funeral Home in Negaunee.
