Steven Paul Anderson, 62, of Co. Rd. 581, Ely Township, passed away peacefully at home in the loving care of his family on Tuesday, January 12, 2016.
Steve was born November 14, 1953 in Marquette to Joseph and Clarann (Dally) Anderson and grew up in Green Creek Location. He attended National Mine Schools and then graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1972. He married Elaine ‘Dot’ VanLuven on July 18, 1978.
Steve was employed as a pipefitter for many years. He enjoyed working and loved traveling with his family to the numerous jobs around the country. He retired as a pipefitter superintendent.
Mr. Anderson was a member of U.P. Plumbers, Pipefitters and HVAC, Local 111 in Escanaba. In his free time he enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are his loving wife of 38 years, Elaine ‘Dot’ Anderson; his father, Joseph Anderson; 2 daughters: Marsha (Douglas) Willa of Wilson and Barbara (Scott) Davis of Oakman, AL; step-daughter, Karyn Ketola of National Mine; 9 grandchildren: Robyn (Bob Prisk) and Nikolas Hebert, Brooke Willa, Branden, Parker, Isaac and Harley Davis, and Michelle and Kassi Ketola; great-grandson, Cole Prisk; brother, Joseph (Lisa) Anderson of Ely Township; 3 sisters: Sharon (Glenn) Harvala of Ely Township, Susan (Rick) Woodward of Green Bay and JoAnn (Bruce) Honkala of Ashland, WI; brothers-in-law, Fred (Rita Culbert) VanLuven and Mike Alderton, both of National Mine; sisters-in-law, Marsha (Richard) Fraser of Ishpeming Township and Tammi (Mike) Daily of Manly, IA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, January 19th at Koskey Funeral Home with Rev. D. Michael Carriere officiating. Interment will be in Northland Chapel Gardens. The family will greet relatives and friends for one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Steve’s memory to the Salvation Army, 222 E. Division St., Ishpeming, MI 49849.
