Corrine M. Valella, 90, formerly of Muskoday St., Negaunee, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility.
Corrine was born January 12, 1925 in Gwinn to Attilio and Victoria (Macchietto) Vecellio and graduated from Gwinn High School, Class of 1942.
She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee, V.A. Romo Post #3165 Negaunee VFW Auxiliary, the Negaunee Eagles and the Bridge Club in Marquette. Corrine was known for her extreme kindness and generosity, especially with her family. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and stayed very active even in her later years. In her spare time Corrine enjoyed playing cards, going for walks and most importantly spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are 2 sons: Donald (Carrie) Grisham of Negaunee and Michael (Sandy) Grisham of Hammond, WI; grandchildren: Kirsten (Drew) Hawley and Michele (Carl) Black; great-grandchildren: Cora and Will Hawley and Maddie Black; sister, Elda ‘Penny’ Davenport; sister-in-law, Mary Vecellio; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dominic F. ‘Mickey’ Valella on February 26, 1986; brother, Reynold ‘Notto’ Vecellio; and brother-in-law, Paul Davenport.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date at St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee. Interment will be in Northland Chapel Gardens. The family kindly asks that any memorial contributions be directed to UP Home Health & Hospice, 1414 W. Fair Ave., Suite 44, Marquette.
