Elizabeth Ann Valima, 89, of Smith St., Gwinn, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Saturday evening, February 21, 2015 at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living where she had resided for the past year.
Elizabeth was born December 21, 1925 in Gwinn to Joseph and Edith (Durcharme) Willette and attended Gwinn Schools. She was employed as a bartender at Brown’s Tavern in Little Lake for 28 years.
Mrs. Valima was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Gwinn. She and her husband enjoyed travelling together, and they spent winters in Arizona and Florida. Elizabeth was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, and most enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are 2 sons: Oliver (Valerie) Valima and Bruce Valima, both of Gwinn; 6 grandchildren: Tammy Valima, Chris Valima, Joe (Angela) Valima, Matt (Holly) Valima, Denise (Larry) Ketola and Bill (Lori) Valima; 13 great-grandchildren: Cali, Leana, Ashton, Ceara, Koren, Joe, Taylor, Riley, Mason, Josie, Sophia, Elijah and Ezra; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Oliver on Dec. 10, 1992; her son, Peter (Marsha) Valima on April 5, 2012; 5 brothers: Arthur, Louis, Fredrick, Robert and Joseph Willette; and 3 sisters: Edith Willette, Emma Sather and Annabelle Bogetto.
Honoring Mrs. Valima’s wishes, private family services will be held at the Koskey Funeral Home.
Elizabeth’s family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Brookridge Heights, the caregivers at Lake Superior Hospice and her special friend, Pam Henriksen, for her volunteer work and compassionate care.
