David J. Vadnais, 66, of 95 Sunnyside Estates, Ishpeming, passed away unexpectedly at home early Saturday morning, September 13, 2014.
David was born August 9, 1948 in Ishpeming to William and Marion (Bean) Vadnais, graduated from Negaunee St. Paul High School, Class of 1966, and was a lifelong area resident. In his younger years he was employed by Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co. at the Empire Mine, and also by Don Mattson installing carpeting. David most recently worked in the security division for the Navy’s ELF site in Humboldt Township.
David was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed watching the races. He also liked hunting and being outdoors. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Betty (Liquia) Vadnais; his mother, Marion (James) Gherondas of Grand Ledge; daughter, Marcie (Gary Dunstan) Miller of Negaunee Township; step-son, Richard (Penny Wolgamott) Liquia of Gwinn; 3 grandchildren: Shawna, Cree and Shayla Liquia; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Patricia Vadnais.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 3-5 pm on Thursday, September 18th at the Koskey Funeral Home in Negaunee, at which time the family will greet relatives and friends. A dinner reception will immediately follow in the St. Paul Catholic Church Gymnasium. Interment will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Vincent DePaul Society in David’s memory.
