Ellen A. Ollila, 94, a lifelong Negaunee resident, died at 5:45 PM on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at the Eastwood Nursing Center where she had resided since August, 2007.

Ellen was born April 16, 1916 in Negaunee to Albin and Edla (Korpi) Romo and was a graduate of Negaunee High School, Class of 1934. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Negaunee and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Ellen was a devoted homemaker who loved to bake, cook and care for others. She also enjoyed reading and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. In her younger years, Ellen enjoyed bowling. She and her husband, Paul, spent many winters in Lake Worth, FL. Most of all, Ellen enjoyed spending time with her family.

Surviving are one daughter, Karen Krause of Denton, TX, 6 grandchildren: Melissa Null, Jay (Christy) Blewett, Phillip (Marilyn) Ollila, Jon (Whitney) Ollila, David (Meredith) Ollila, and Tracy (Joel) Uranga, 15 great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter, a special nephew, Alan (Bonnie) Johnson, and several nieces, nephews and loyal friends and neighbors. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul C. Ollila on June 2, 2000, her son, Charles C. Ollila, 2 brothers: Vilho and Arthur Romo, and 1 sister, Vienna Johnson.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday at the Koskey Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Solberg officiating. Burial will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM at the funeral home on Monday.
