Ina M. Ontto, 96, of 387 N. South Point Lane, Gwinn, died at 5:18 AM on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the Mather Nursing Center where she had resided since December of 2012.
Ina was born July 5, 1916 in Copper Cliff, Ontario, Canada to Victor and Lempi (Perttula) Pelkola, attended the Gwinn Schools and lived most of her life in Gwinn.
She was a former member of Grace Lutheran Church, Gwinn. She loved baking, working in the kitchen, canning goods and was an avid blueberry and raspberry picker.
Surviving are her daughter, Shirley Hedstrom of Gwinn, 2 grandchildren; Mark Hedstrom, of Gwinn, Leanne (Jeff) Weeks of Copperas Cove, TX, 2 great grandchildren, Aila and Sofia, her son-in-law, Norman Abramson of Gwinn, 3 sisters: Elizabeth Etelamaki of Escanaba, Irene (Clarence) Bourn of Port Orange, FL, Lillian (Leo) Walters of Daytona Beach, FL, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William F. Ontto on Sept. 2, 2003, her daughter Diana Abramson on January 10, 2012, a sister Martha Huszcso, 5 brothers: John, Jack, August, William, and Robert Pelkola.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date at the Gwinn Cemetery.
