Obituary for ROBERT BRUCE "ROBBIE" JANDRON Jr.

Print
Robert Bruce ‘Robbie’ Jandron, Jr., 61, of Negaunee, entered eternal life late Monday evening, October 1, 2018 at the Rochester Methodist Hospital, Mayo Clinic, in the loving care of his family.

Robbie was born January 19, 1957 in El Centro, CA to Robert B. and Dolores A. (Herman) Jandron, Sr., and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1975. Following high school, Robbie attended Brainerd Community College in Minnesota, and soon thereafter returned to his Yooper roots.

Robbie was proficient in sign language and used those skills during his employment at Marquette Public Schools and MARESA where he worked with special needs children. As a natural entrepreneur with the gift of charisma, he inspired several people. Those skills were used to begin his own business, Jandron Custom Home Builders. Robbie had excellent communication skills, and he enjoyed helping people design their dream homes; he had a knack of fulfilling the customers wishes regarding their home. Most recently, he worked for Spectrum Business as a Business Sales Executive where he once again used his people skills to be a very successful businessman.

Mr. Jandron was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and attended Bethany Lutheran Church regularly with his wife. Many times, more than one pew would be filled with Robbie, Kelly, their children and significant others. Robbie also supported many of our local service organizations such as the VFW, Eagles, Elks, Richmond Township and more.

Robbie was a true family man, and was blessed to spend time with his family. He and his wife, Kelly, organized trips across the country experiencing different lifestyles and spending time with one another. Many memorable moments were shared during family trips to Mexico, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and a trip of a lifetime to Italy just to name a few. Along with grandma and grandpa, countless long weekend trips over the years were spent following all six children in their sport endeavors - these were the best times for all of us!

Robbie’s interests were numerous, some of his favorites being hunting and fishing with his boys at the family camp. He was extremely proud of the excavation of land and building of the camp structures by many family members during the summer of 2015, all under the direction of Grandpa Jandron and cooking skills of Grandma Jandron.

Robbie was instrumental in starting a developmental basketball program, a St. Paul’s affiliated church team for those in grades 3 through 6, who were soon to be called, “the Negaunee Boys.” Many of these young players went on to be standout Negaunee High School players because of the mentoring and coaching that Robbie gave them. This also held true to his dedication to coaching Negaunee Little League baseball as well as Negaunee Diamonds Legion team. He knew the art of coaching and how to tap into each individual athlete’s potential and made them the best they could be. Robbie made an impact on the entire community and will be remembered as one of its most influential leaders. His mentoring and coaching techniques for youngsters were second to none, making them educated and dedicated athletes that would turn into fine young adults.

Most importantly of all, as most know, Robbie was a Negaunee Miner through and through, from his own years of displaying his talents flying up and down the basketball court, to becoming a fan of all his children’s teams. He enjoyed watching his children succeed in several sports, including basketball, football, baseball, track, and volleyball through their high school years and into their collegiate careers. It was very rare that he ever missed a game, even though it required a lot of travel from one game to another, even on the same day, but he wanted to show his love and support for his children. The journey would take him all over the Midwest, and at times all over the country to watch baseball game after baseball game. He thoroughly cherished every moment, and these were the happiest of times for him.

Surviving are his father, Robert Jandron, Sr. of Negaunee; loving wife of 15 years, Kelly (Laurila) Jandron; five sons: Cory (Carol Kessel), Tony, Jacob, Tyler (Kaitlynne Pitman) and Nickolas (Erika Drake); his daughter, Gabby; two brothers, Kurt (Terri) Jandron of Temecula, CA and Dale (Becky) Jandron of Wonder Lake, IL; a sister, Vickie (Fred) Spitzer of Woodstock, IL; uncles: Paul (Laura), Richard and Raymond (Jean) Jandron and David Herman; aunts: Kay Durocher, Sharon (Dan) Landmark, Judy Jandron and Rosemary Sharland; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores A. ‘Dodo’ Jandron on October 30, 2016; and two aunts, Barbara Herman and Priscilla Lydon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 8th at St. Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Larry Van Damme officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 1:00 pm at the church on Monday, and also at a luncheon immediately following in the St. Paul School Gymnasium. Robbie’s sons and brothers will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Robbie’s memory for a scholarship fund to be established, C/O and payable to Negaunee Public Schools, 101 S. Pioneer Ave., Negaunee, MI 49866.
