Obituary for CAROL MARIE PEARCE (Reichel)

CAROL MARIE PEARCE (Reichel)
Carol Marie Pearce, 84, of Negaunee, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, July 1, 2018 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility.

Carol was born October 8, 1933 in Ishpeming to George and Mildred (Paulson) Reichel, graduated from Negaunee High School and was a lifelong area resident. Aside from being a devoted homemaker, she was employed for 23 years as a cook at the Palmer Nursing Home and Marquette General Hospital.

Carol was a member of Mitchell United Methodist Church, Negaunee. She was a dedicated volunteer at the annual UP EMS conference that was held at NMU, and being an animal lover also proudly supported UPAWS. She enjoyed trips to Presque Isle and the Soo Locks to watch ore freighters, listening to Elmer on Saturday evenings, walking along picturesque Teal Lake and working word search puzzles and watching Wheel of Fortune. Most of all, Carol loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are three daughters: Kathy (Pizziola) Pearce of Negaunee, Cindy (Edward) Gugala of Battle Creek and Barbi (Keith) Voegtline of Omaha, Nebraska; eight grandchildren: Bob (Rachel) and Ryan (Sara) Pizziola, Joe (Alyssa), Jeff (Shannon) and Justin Gugala, and Tiffany, Derrick and Sam Parnell; six great-grandchildren: Tony and Abby Pizziola, Thomas Gugala, Stefano Fluery and Jacob and Denny Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers: Art, George ‘Babe’, Robert and David Reichel.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 5th at Mitchell United Methodist Church with Rev. Albert Barchue officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends for one hour prior to funeral services at the church on Thursday, and also at a luncheon in the church hall immediately following. Carol’s grandsons and son-in-law, Keith Voegtline, will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in her memory to Mitchell United Methodist Church and/or UPAWS.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility for their wonderful care provided.
