Obituary for MARGARET ANNA "Peggi" NURMI (JUIDICI)

MARGARET ANNA "Peggi" NURMI (JUIDICI)
Margaret Anna ‘Peggi’ Nurmi, 69, of 136 E Buffalo Road, Negaunee Township, passed away peacefully in the care of UP Health Services in Marquette knowing she was loved with her husband at her side.

Peggi was born April 27, 1948 in Marquette and raised by her loving parents, Battista ‘Binda’ and Edith (Anderson) Juidici. She graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1966 and attended Norther Michigan University pursuing a career in music. She was a principal cellist in the NMU symphony orchestra and for a time considered attending the Julliard School of Music.

Peggi married Russell J. Nurmi on November 30, 1968 and had one son, Jason.

Besides being a devoted and wonderful wife, mother, and homemaker, she was a gourmet cook and extremely proud of her Italian heritage. For years she expressed a desire to author a cookbook to preserve her affinity for her passion, but unfortunately this endeavor was never finished.

Peggi was an avid golfer and for years, could be found playing a round with her husband Russell, or other family and friends who were also members at Red Fox Run. Football was also a passion with Peggi being a lifelong Packer fan, ever since attending the Packers golden girl baton school as a young girl.

Peggi enjoyed many other interests in life including gardening, bird watching, hunting and fishing and weaving traditional rag carpets.

Peggi was employed for over 40 years as a bartender and was always fond of being a part of the Negaunee community and socializing with many lifelong friends. For all who had the opportunity to have their life touched by her, they would know of her unselfish giving and caring.

Surviving are her loving husband of 49 years, Russell; son, Jason (Debbie) Nurmi of Coopersville, MI; her sister, Beverly (Louis) Wernholm of Negaunee Township; the Dahlstrom family who she loved dearly; and many nephews, cousins and other friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
