Justin Charles Karnack, Jr., 16, beloved son, grandson, brother and friend, of 208 Bigelow St., Ishpeming, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at his home following a courageous battle with depression.
Justin was born February 25, 2001 in Marquette to Justin Charles Karnack, Sr. and Crystal Mae Reichel and was a dedicated student at Ishpeming High School.
Justin was an active multi-sport athlete and was especially proud to be a member of the football and wrestling teams. He was also an accomplished weightlifter, being a two-time award winner competing in Strongman Competitions. From the time he was very young, he had a strong work ethic and was always willing to tackle a job and help others. In his free time, Justin loved spending time with his family and friends and being outdoors – hiking, hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his loving parents: Justin (Jessica) Karnack, Sr. of Ishpeming and Crystal (Daniel Woodby) Reichel of Negaunee Township; brothers and sisters: NeTanya and Danny J. Reichel of Negaunee Township, and Andrew Polini, Anthony and Joshua Karnack, Noah Barry and Lillian Karnack, all of Ishpeming; paternal grandparents: Charles ‘Chuck’ Karnack and Rita Semke; maternal grandmother, Ann Waters; uncles: Jim Reichel and Robert Semke; aunts, Carolyn (Chad) Collette and Tamara (Mark) Isley; a special cousin, Preston Collette; and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Danny W. Reichel in 2010.
A Celebration of Justin’s Life will be held on Friday, October 6th at Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming with Rev. D. Michael Carriere officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 2:00 pm until 4:45 pm at the church on Friday with memorial services taking place at 5:00 pm. A potluck dinner reception will immediately follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Justin’s memory to the Ishpeming High School Sport Booster Club.
