Obituary for GRAYDON SCOTT THOMAS

GRAYDON SCOTT THOMAS
Graydon Scott ‘Grady’ Thomas, 58, of S. M-553, Sands Township, passed away Wednesday morning, August 9, 2017 at UP Health System Marquette.
Grady was born August 16, 1958 in Negaunee to James and Jeanette (Salmer) Thomas, graduated from Marquette Senior High School, Class of 1976 and was a lifelong area resident. He worked as a plumber for the U.P. Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, Local 111 for 17 years.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, hunting, hanging out in the garage and being at either of his two camps. Most importantly he cherished his time with his beloved grandson, Waylon James. Together they enjoyed 4-wheeling in grandpa’s ‘monster truck’ and learning to drive Waylon’s new 4-wheeler, playing with tools, picking blueberries, eating sweets together, and anything else that they could have fun doing.
Surviving are his son, Toby (Amy) Thomas of Big Bay; grandson, Waylon James Thomas; life partner, Claudia Nadeau of Sands Township and her daughter, Kristina Nadeau of Marquette; several cousins and close friends; and his grand-dog, Dutchess. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Stephen Thomas; close friend, Dale ‘Zepto’ Niemi; and several aunts and uncles.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 18th at the Negaunee Cemetery with Rev. Leon Jarvis officiating. The family will also greet relatives and friends at 3:00 pm on Friday at Graydon’s home at 720 S. M-553 in Sands Township for a luncheon and celebration of his life.
