Obituary for CONNIE GERTRUDE WILLIAMS (Williamson)

Connie G. Williams, 86, of Suomi Location, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, July 10, 2017 at UP Health System – Marquette.

Connie was born May 28, 1931 in Ishpeming to Elmer and Elsie (Tuomi) Williamson, graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1948, and was a lifelong area resident. She married Russell L. Williams on January 26, 1951 and together they raised six children.

Aside from being a devoted wife and homemaker, Connie held several jobs throughout her working career; as an operator with Bell Telephone, as a bookkeeper with Thompson Elevator and as a secretary with Longyear Realty from where she retired. In her free time she enjoyed playing bingo and cribbage, and taking an occasional trip to the casino. She and her husband enjoyed spending 18 years wintering in Zephyr Hills, FL. Most importantly, Connie loved spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Williams was a member of Community Lutheran Church, Suomi Location, was a life member of the Negaunee VFW Auxiliary, and was a former member of the Negaunee Elks.

Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Russell; three sons: Russell Scott Williams of Gwinn, Gary and Kurt (Donna) Williams, both of Suomi Location; two daughters, Bonnie (Scott) Little and Lynne (Chad) Little, both of Suomi Location; 12 grandchildren: Chad (Jody) and Gary (Stefanie) Little; Christi (David) Etelamaki, Amy (Bruce) Cram, Jon (Angie) Williams, Michael (Jenn) Williams, Holly (Matt) Valima, Amber Williams, Trevor (Brianna) Williams, Autumn (Chris) Hayden, Mandy Gorman and Sarah (Chuck) Bossum; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Roger Williams in 2011; brother, Jack Williamson; and her sister, Julie Johnston.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 15th at Koskey Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am until the time of services at 12:00 noon at the funeral home on Saturday, and also at a luncheon at the Negaunee VFW immediately following services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Connie’s memory to the Negaunee VFW or UPAWS.
