Obituary for JANE ELIZABETH ROMBACK (Carlson)

JANE ELIZABETH  ROMBACK (Carlson)
Jane Elizabeth Romback, 73, of Co. Rd. 510, Negaunee Township, passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her loving husband on Sunday evening, June 18, 2017.
Jane was born August 3, 1943 in Elmhurst, Illinois, daughter of Arne and Margaret Carlson, and graduated from Elmhusrt High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Northern Michigan University, and later earned her Master of Social Work degree from Grand Valley State University.
Jane owned and operated a private practice in Marquette and also worked in Alaska for more than a year counseling soldiers returning home from war. She was a selfless volunteer and was a part of the Critical Incident Team that helped in New York City following the September 11th attacks and worked in New Orleans following hurricane Katrina in 2005. She also volunteered with hospice, at the Women’s Center in Marquette since its inception in 1973, at the warming center for the homeless, and with a bible study program at the Marquette Branch Prison.
In her free time, Jane enjoyed camping, spending time with family, and in her younger years motorcycling with her husband.
Surviving are her loving husband of 35 years, Bill Romback; two sons: J Michael (Lisa) Denison of North Pole, AK and Ron (Julie) Romback of Oconto Falls, WI; daughter, Ronna (Dan) Radke of Oconto Falls, WI; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Michele Denison O’Donelle; her grandson, Emmett Radke; her brother, Dave (Betty) Carlson, and two nephews, Clayton and Arne Carlson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, June 26th at Eastwood Apostolic Lutheran Church with Rev. Dale Niskanen officiating. Entombment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens. The family will greet relatives and friends from 12:00 noon until the time of services at 2:00 pm at the church on Monday, and also at a luncheon in the church basement following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to UP Home Health and Hospice in Jane’s memory.
