Emma Louise Beams, 91, formerly of Suomi Location, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, June 10, 2017 at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living in the care of her loving family and UP Home Health and Hospice.
Emma was born February 21, 1926 in Franklin, OH to Glenn A. and Jennie S. (Kelley) Truax, as the sixth of ten children, and graduated from VanWert High School, Class of 1944. She married her high school sweetheart and great love of her life, Robert L. Beams, on June 7, 1945 in VanWert, Ohio.
Emma was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and words cannot express how selfless and caring she was for her family. She was a member of Gwinn United Methodist Church and The Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are three daughters: Shirley (Gordon) Rice of Gwinn, Marcia (Bruce) Wentela of Marquette and Jan (Randy) Maxedon of Hawaii; her son, Kenneth (Debbie) Beams of Marquette; Seven grandchildren: Scott (Beth) and Brian (Lara) Rice, Matt (Beth) Beams, Emmye (Steven) Wiig, Edmond and Elizabeth Wentela, and Keanu Maxedon; three great-grandchildren: Evelyn Rice, and Emil and Waino Wiig; her sister, Shirley Murphy of Findlay, OH; her brother, Charles (Izzie) Truax of VanWert, OH; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her devoted husband, Bob, of 71 years on March 22, 2017; six sisters: Claire Marie, Sue, Jerry, Pauline, Rose and Betty; and one brother, John.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 14th at Koskey Funeral Home in Negaunee with Rev. Ronald Fike officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, June 13th at the funeral home, and also from 12:30 pm until the time of services at 1:00 pm at the funeral home on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to UP Home Health and Hospice, 510 Mather Ave., Ishpeming, MI 49849.
