Ron was employed as a shift foreman for Cleveland Cliffs. He began working at the Humboldt Mine and eventually retired from the Tilden Mine in 1995 with 30 years of service. He was well liked by his co-workers and received a mug from his crew stating, “The #1 Boss from the #1 Crew.”
Mr. Isaacson was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Negaunee. He was active with the Alzheimer’s Association and participated in their annual walk and enjoyed attending the monthly luncheons. He loved snowmobiling, watching Nascar, traveling to Texas with the RV to spend time with family, and being around the campfire with friends and family. Ron just returned home from a family reunion in Texas, where he enjoyed spending time with his entire family, especially his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his loving wife, Millie; daughter, Bonnie (Bill) Beale of League City, Texas; son, Steven ‘Ike’ Isaacson of Negaunee; brothers, Jack Katajamaki of Negaunee, Terry Katajamaki of Marquette and Jerry Maki of Negaunee; nine grandchildren: Angela Munoz, Samantha (Travis) Wright, Cory (Brittany Dawson) Beale, Tara (Nate) Card, Josh (Lilly) Vidlund, Jessica Juchemich, Christoper ‘Bubba’ Isaacson and Benjamin Wolfe; eight great-grandchildren: Jayden, Gabriella, Camden, Parker, Brody, Kynlee, Duke and Addy; daughter-in-law, Dawn Arbelius; sister-in-law, Jean (Jim) Hodge; four God children: Kristine French, Glenn Giuchin, Tom Anderson and Michael Wommer; special cousin, Kathy ‘Honey’ Chavez; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Gregg Isaacson 1993; brother, Tom Katajamaki; and step-father, Toivo Katajamaki.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 16th at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven Solberg officiating. A luncheon celebration will follow immediately in the church fellowship hall. Interment will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Ron’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 S. Front St., Ste. #233, Marquette, MI 49855.
